Father,
I have been wrong. Certainly this is not a surprise to you. My sin is believing that I could change the World through politics rather than through you. I am opposed to abortion. It crawls under my skin to think about gay rights. I am not a supporter of our president. The list could go on. But the truth keeps hitting me in the face. My calling in life is not to change the political arena as much as it is to proclaim Christ. Lord, I have not been faithful in this area. And for this I ask for your forgiveness.
Certainly you are not opposed to those in government that do right. You want us to stand for the widows and orphans. And this we must do. But to believe that this will happen through political means is as ludicrous as believing that I can save myself. If I have learned anything it is this: I am powerless to change anyone including myself. Hearts will not change because of law. Thousands of years and the cross of Christ proves that the only change that will come is when people surrender to your Lordship.
Father this is my prayer. I want to see the unborn in this World. I want to see those confused in a homosexual lifestyle find peace in you. Lord I want to see the World change. So it is to this end that I will work. No longer focusing on the politics of this life but to point people to you. You alone Lord will change this World. You alone will change a scared pregnant mothers heart. Only you Lord will help a confused person see who they really are in you. Today I lift up Jesus. Today I want stand for you. Today, I am no longer a political activist but a disciple of Jesus.

some how the change in the law in 1972 changed peoples ideas if not their hearts. before that few women had abortions and a few did die from complications of the same. But if you have been in the pro life movement for any length of time you know this… the change in the law allowed millions of children to be killed….Their hearts were changed…forever…
please do not stop any political activity because you think it will not cause people ’s hearts to change…Yes that is up to Holy Spirit. it is not heart’s you are to change but ideas. The idea of the sanctity of life and abortion being murder and speaking the truth of God’s law over man’s law, these need to be put forth and heard….It is still truth and eventually may lead one to God. yes, not in the realm of winning people to the prolife movement but winning them to Jesus Christ This is motivation behind all ministry. You need to be on the frontlines of the battle along that specific battle front…others are feeding starving children, others in prisons, some in the local churches, some in colleges debating. You are praying , preaching, and reaching out in His power PROCLAIMING CHRIST by your actions, speech , presence. William Wilberforce changed a law and the lives of many were changed. ..I’m just trying to say you can be an evangelist, and minister in the political arena….your heart is right before God. The political arena is a battle ground that The Lord needs soldiers on. My prayer is you continue with a new heart motivation and a new vision for His Kingdom. God Bless you. jill

I actually agree with you 100%. I also knew that when I sent this post that I could not conver everything I wanted. I actually applaud and even believe that we need to be engaged in to the political arena. We are to be salt and light into all areas of life including politics. I am actually very active in trying to help those in Liberia Africa who have just come through a civil war. We are providing water systems to clean their water, also we just borught a medical clinic to them as well as doing a conference for women who have felt like second class citizens. Maybe my confession is that I I made the political arena my God rather than the Lord Jesus Christ. I will certainly do all that I can to see laws changed even if hearts are not. But my prayer is that I listen to God more than I do Fox News. I do not know if this makes sense. Thanks for your input.
